A tag or a little card is the last thing added to a gift and the first thing noticed. Chimanlals makes them by hand, in miniature, with borders and finishes that echo the larger range.

A closer look
One motif, five colourways, a cord through each.
The same paisley is printed five times here, once on each colour of handmade paper, and the gold sits differently on every one of them. Each tag is punched and threaded by hand. A tag is the smallest surface in the range, and a motif drawn for a full sheet has to be redrawn before it will read at this size.

Paper Culture
A tag is the smallest surface Chimanlals prints, and the least forgiving. A motif that fills a sheet has to be redrawn before it will work at the size of a hand, then printed at that scale, so a whole pattern language ends up concentrated on one small piece of paper.
The detail
Finished like small ornaments
Chimanlals’ wider design language draws on Indian traditions including embroidery and jewellery. In tags and small cards, those references appear at a miniature scale, using the same largely silk-screen-printed approach as the wider range.
