Packaging is where a gift becomes an occasion. Chimanlals makes boxes, pouches and wrapping papers by hand, so the outside of a present is as considered as what is inside.

Handmade wrapping paper, printed by hand in gold and foil, batik, block prints and bright geometrics, sold by the sheet and used across the rest of this collection. The designs change with what is being printed, so ask the showroom what is on the shelf now.

A closer look
A flat sheet, until you fold it.
Some of these arrive flat. The printed sheet is cut and scored so that it folds up into a box or a pouch and holds its shape, and a tassel or a tie closes it. Look across the photograph: the same kind of piece appears both lying flat and made up, which is the whole idea of the collapsible forms in this range.

Paper Culture
Folding, wrapping and tying belong to the same paper language as printing. A sheet becomes a box, a box takes a ribbon, a roll of handprinted paper closes around something else entirely, and the outside of a gift is finished with the same care as the piece inside it.
